Rock Royalty: Antolini, the #1 Stone Brand in the World

June 6, 2017

When we say Antolini is our rockstar, we might not mean what you’d assume. Antolini Luigi & C is the top producer of quality natural stone, leading the way in technology, quality, and customer service.

Based in Verona, Italy, Antolini knows luxury, offering exotic and precious stone surfaces that always dazzle and impress. The worldwide distributor of natural stone, Antolini merges a respect for the history and story of each slab with an openness to outside-the-box thinking that allows the company to grow and advance with new technologies for the natural stone industry. “Constantly evolving, the company has always supported new technology and development in natural stone processing – without forgetting the importance of quality,” Antolini’s story states.

Antolini owns or has exclusive rights to around 30 quarries, from which their marble, granite, quartzite, and other natural stones are acquired. Often journeying to new areas in search of unique treasures from around the world, Antolini “is driven by the desire to constantly discover new natural stones.”

The roots of Antolini go back to more than 50 years of experience. The Antolini family conducted its first business in 1920, out of a workshop in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, a small commune located about 120 km west of Venice and about 15 km northwest of Verona. The family was able to quickly build up their business, investing time and money into increasing the production site and buying new quarries.

Between 1961 and 1989, the new firm Antolini Luigi & C. was established near the River Adige in Sega di Cavaion, in what is still its main building today. The company expanded its connections in various international markets and, in the ten-year period between 1990 and 2000, more quarries were acquired and joined the Antolini group.

The early years of the new millennium, from 2001 to 2005, saw the inauguration of the Stone Boutique and the Stone Gallery at the company’s main site. These were both designed to display marble, granite and precious materials and the two showrooms quickly became focal points for experts in the sector. Most notably, the “Lifestyle” showroom was introduced in 2004 as an exclusive area providing ideas on how to furnish homes, offices, restaurants, hotels, shops and fitness centers. Together, the showrooms featured original and inspiring natural stone displays, with style and elegance.

Between 2006 and 2009, Antolini Luigi & C. was recognized as they celebrated their 50th anniversary, confirming the company’s reputation of excellence as they have continued to grow and anticipate the market’s expectations.

In 2010, the Carrara Stone Gallery opened its doors with a display of over 12,000 sq.m of natural stones from all over the world. At the same time, the Stone Boutique got a make-over and was given new lighting designed specifically to bring out the translucency of materials.

Throughout Antolini’s history, the company has been at the forefront of new technology and the latest market demands, providing the product, information, and production that consumers desired worldwide.

The name “Antolini” has become synonymous with “quality,” offering only the highest grade stones, perfected using the latest technology. Much of that quality is due to their commitment to innovation and effective solutions that look to the future of natural stone manufacturing for all varieties of natural stone, including marble, granite, onyx, travertine and more.

Antolini Luigi & C. is part of a program that supports new technological development and promotes research activity within businesses. The company uses the very latest, state-of-the-art machinery, which increases the quality of production and reduces the costs involved in manufacturing and transporting natural stone. To create the best possible solutions, the group handles each project with patented systems, including:

Antolini offers an array of patented finishing processes to showcase their stone’s finest qualities.

In addition to the traditional sanding, polishing, brush hammering, sandblasting and flaming processes, Antolini is pleased to offer their ARF® (Antolini Riven Finish) and AHF® (Antolini Hydro Finish) finishes for natural stone.

"Riven" flaming and hydro jetting are the most innovative processing techniques that the company has developed. AHF®, meanwhile, is particularly good for brightening up colors and cleaning the surfaces of slabs.

To calibrate, polish and sand natural stone slabs, Antolini uses their ALR® (Antolini Level & Reverso) system, which allows for slabs to be calibrated on both the front and back surfaces in order to achieve optimum results during laying (rather than only calibrating the side that will be visible). With two different finish techniques for each slab (polishing and smoothing), the company solves storage problems, as well.

For more delicate stones, Antolini offers their AVP® (Antolini Vacuum Process), a revolutionary process that creates a "vacuum" effect and covers surface imperfections without causing damage. This treatment improves color and perfects the polish of each slab.

Antolini offers a number of individual collections of stone, from the most luxurious and exotic to the durable and close-to-nature.
